'COLLECTED WORKS' I VIVIENNE NELSON

Working primarily (for over 60 years) in the easily accessible mediums of clay and ink have given me the means to keep making artwork that is both direct and satisfying, especially with the addition of watercolor.

First one-woman pottery exhibition Wellington Arts Centre
Moved to Fiji & continued as a studio potter

1975 Returned to Australia and established studio pottery Bulahdelah
1977 Birth of third child Nicholas
1980 - 81 Exhibitions of pottery at Killara
1982 Returned to Fiji (Suva) for Melbourne’s work
1983 Employed by the Education Dept. to teach first group of local art teachers
and devise art curriculum; Taught drawing for Fiji Arts Council
1984 Taught Senior Art at International School in Suva
1985 Returned to Australia (Nelson Bay) and established studio pottery.
Taught drawing for WEA
1990 Moved to Kincumber. Re-established studio pottery. Back injury forced an end to pottery
1991 Studied watercolor at Julian Ashton Art School
1992 Exhibited Watercolors at Beaver Gallery, Canberra and at Hyatt Hotel, Canberra
1997 Moved to Newcastle (Mayfield)
1998 Artist in Residence at John Hunter Hospital (Arts for Health) with two exhibitions there
2000 First permanent studio built by Melbourne; taught one-to-one drawing classes to 2017
2006 Exhibited at Studio 48 3 times with Newcastle Society of Artists outdoor group
Held “Fenced” Exhibition at Newcastle Theatre Company.
2013 Exhibition “Nature Mort” at Michael Reid Gallery
2018 Moved to Wickham
2022 A drawing hung in National Drawing & Print Prize, Swan Hill
