THINGS TO KNOW
Introducing the first ever Art Prize at LEDA Gallery. “LEDA Art Prize” will be judged by a panel of 3 judges and offers a prize pool of $4000.00. The theme for 2024 is “CONNECTEDNESS”.
ART WORK
SIZING: Works can be comprised of up to a 3 part piece. The entirety of the work cannot exceed 2m in any given dimension.
MEDIUM: For the prize, we accept any medium including sculpture, photography and painting. The only exclusion for the prize will be digital forms. Works can be framed or unframed.
THEME: The theme of the Prize is “CONNECTEDNESS”. Works considered will have meaning and draw parallel to this theme. Let your creativity run wild.
STYLE: Works must be within the world of abstract and expressionism.
PRIZES
FIRST PRIZE: $2650 (Includes a 3 week exhibition at LEDA Gallery for 2025 valued at $1650.00 and $1000.00 in cash.)
SECOND PRIZE: $650 cash.
PEOPLES CHOICE: $300 Eckersley’s Newcastle Voucher, 4 life drawing classes at LEDA and $200 cash.
SUBMISSIONS
SUBMITTING: Use the form on the web page to submit your:
- name
- medium
- dimensions
- brief artist statement for your work
- contact details
- high res images of your submission.
You can upload up to 3 images of your submission.
FEE: Entry fee is $39.00 and is paid with your submission.
DEADLINE: Entries must be in no later than 11:59pm on October 1, 2024.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS: Successful entries will be notified via email by Monday the 7th of October, 2024. Each artist can submit a maximum of 3 seperate submissions.
ART PRIZE EXHIBITION
The top 20 submissions will be announced on Monday the 7th of October 2024. The LEDA Abstract Art Prize will be held on Saturday the 19th of October from 6pm till 8pm.
The works will be displayed at LEDA for a 2 week exhibition, and will be for sale during this period. LEDA takes a 35% commission on all artwork sales. If you’re work is sold, you will be required to invoice us to receive payment for your sale.
JUDGING
LEDA Art Prize will be judged by three Newcastle judges including Marguerite Tierney (Artist & Blackstone Gallery Director), Lucas Grogan (Artist) & Braddon Snape (Artist & Director of The Creator Incubator). The winners will be announced on the evening of the Prize.
