(/ˈɛkoʊ/; Greek: Ἠχώ, Ēkhō, "echo", from ἦχος (ēchos), "sound")

A repetition, a remnant and nothing more, a sound that is not unique but simply lasts. A natural phenomenon of bounce back and reflection that imitates with lingering effect.

Welcome to the inaugural duo exhibition of Sydney mixed media artist John Spyrakis and Novacastrian figurative abstract painter Lauren Wiltshire.

The artists invite you to experience their responses to the raw beauty and spirit of Munmorah National Park, Darkinjung. Through their differing mediums and techniques, they capture the shifting moods, textures and rhythms of this treasured landscape. Their works harmonise and compliment each other and echo the land they have created this body of work on.

Both artists share a deep connection to Munmorah's ever-changing environment, its interplay of light and darkness, places of recreation and sacredness, and its untamed energy and timelessness.

This exhibition celebrates the essence of place – a convergence of land and sea, memories and presence, connection and love. It is a tribute to Australia's coastline, of ancient landscape, rich history and enduring connection to people.
