Hidden Seasons, Fallen Stars: Unfolds in the Quiet Architectures of Care. A feminine landscape of keeping, holding and tenderness sits at the centre of this work. Care is cyclical and quiet. It does not begin or end in a single act but echoes, gathers and returns. It appears in fragments, in hands that prepare, in softened voices, in moments almost unnoticed. It is not monumental but rhythmic, not complete but continuous. Small gestures accumulate over time, shared between moments, forming the texture of the everyday. The work moves between colour and sculptural form, using paper clay made from kept objects, painted fabric and woven edges that extend and soften the surface. Materials such as egg cartons, garden grass, bricks and fabrics are held as acts of safekeeping, embodying care, home and everyday rhythms.
Layers slowly gather, fold and hold, balancing structure and tenderness. Woven and wrapped edges form gentle frameworks that cradle the ordinary, while soft, returning layers of colour invite slowness. Through these textures, the work quietly moves the body and attention, encouraging subtle pauses and reflection. Time in this work slows, settling into gestures that quietly shape experience. Care does not arrive whole. It comes in pieces, carried everywhere, everywhen. Hidden seasons dwell within us, and fallen
stars scatter like fragments of memory, lingering gently across time

Daniela Cristallo is a contemporary Australian artist working primarily in abstract painting, with sculpture emerging as an extension of her work. Her art explores relationships between body, memory and landscape, often guided by a recurring return to water. Her paintings are developed through a language of mark-making, where colour, pace and texture structure each work. Each gesture responds to observations of place and feeling.
Her sculptural work extends these ideas into three dimensions through paper clay, fabric and woven elements. Using loved, kept and found materials from the home, these works reflect care, kinship and the quiet structures that shape everyday life, exploring how memory is carried and gestures are sheltered.
Daniela has exhibited across Australia in solo and group shows, including two solo shows at Straitjacket in Newcastle. Her work has been recognised in contemporary art prizes, including The Defiance Award, Calleen Art Prize, Fishers Ghost Art Prize and Blacktown Art Prize. In 2024, she was awarded the Leda Gallery Art Prize. Her works have been featured in Art Edit Magazine on multiple occasions. She is currently based in Sydney.
