After travelling the world for many years always drawing, sketching and photographing, Stephen Leek came to settle in Bellingen in the early 90s, straight away he knew he wanted to paint, fortunately there was a painting group focused mostly on plein air landscape paintings.
The teacher Ted Hillyer became a life long friend and mentor, throughout the early years Ted introduced Stephen to a world of influences. Using the interplay of stylized shapes and colours, Stephen Leek has developed his own expression in local sea, landscapes, still life and figure paintings.
