This is a story of friendship "The Dave and Vetty Show".
The two made friends over a decade ago here in Newcastle with a common love of art connecting them together. The end of study saw both artists go separate ways to separate lands. The lust to further their arts practice drove an accidental disconnection.
The course of about 10 years and unwavering determination, saw both artists pursuing their arts practice by learning, self-discovery, life experience, travelling and exhibiting. The phone rang, Newcastle beckoned and both David and Yvette returned home and life re-continued as just that "The Dave and Vetty Show".
Yvette’s figures are encased in defined space. David’s subjects hover in a void of negative space. In David’s work, subtle palette references evoke Yvette’s gestural swathes of bold colour, harmonizing the gallery environment and allowing the works to sit comfortably together.
