"TRIFFID" | PETER TRIMMER 'AUTUMN ALIVE'

"TRIFFID" | PETER TRIMMER 'AUTUMN ALIVE'

Exhibition running 30th of April- 18th of May | 2022

Peter Trimmers love for Copper as a sculptural medium first began in the mid 70's whilst tinkering around his backyard workshop.
With a simple bucket of mixed scrap metal consisting of pipe, sheet, wire and foil and without any thought of becoming a sculptor his passion for copper soon developed into a craft that brought him great satisfaction.
Peter always felt that Copper was an undervalued metal, you can mix it with tin
to make bronze and cast with it to make sculptor, however the image of
copper seemed to fall to second best. Unlike a cast sculptor, a
construction sculptor like Peter sees the unlimited possibilities Copper
offers.
The "TRIFFID" exhibition showcases and explores this material that has the properties which allow it to have a second, third or unlimited life. It’s life prior to the sculptural form in the scrap bin could start out black, corroded or unforgiving in its malleability.
Heated to blood red and quenched in water it begins a new life as a shiny
and soft metal. Worked over time it will lose its malleability and rebirth into
a new complex form ready to be reworked.
"TRIFFID" is Peter Trimmer's overview of his work and journey as a sculptor over the past 40 years.
