For me painting is a way of seeing what is right in front of you. An intuitive connection between eye, hand and surface. A ritual or sort of visceral dance that is played out within the studio or more so wherever you may be. When painting I’m interested in forms that resonate within; knife blades, carcasses and meat cuts. How we consume, how we survive. This work titled ‘Noodle Knife’ was inspired by a recent trip to Japan. Seeing an object, the Noodle Knife for the first time.
