FRONTIER

‘Frontier’ is as an attempt to achieve a convincing fusion of polarities - organic (the horse) and synthetic (the glass and metal of the skyscrapers) - in one painting.

I wanted the glass areas of the abstracted buildings to be reflective to emphasise a sense of impenetrability and coldness. The aim being for this to contrast with the fleshiness of the horse (and also to add a greater sense of mystery.)

The reflection is echoed in the sheen of the horse to encourage a sense of fusion of the polarities without diminishing their contrast.
