CAM SUMMERS
I'D LIKE TO WRITE A POEM ABOUT IT
ACRYLIC, CHARCOAL, PASTEL & OIL PASTEL ON CANVAS I 150 X 150CM
This work embraces the celestial experience of sharing and connection, and is a reflection upon these moments. Before moving to Melbourne, Summers was living on a ‘commune’ of sorts outside of Coffs Harbour, and the reverence held for its community confirmed the type of person and partager one would aspire to. The circularity hints at ebulliant movement, dancing, ephemerality, and a trust in time passing. The figurative becomes secondary, to the extolment of still life objects one would find at a picnic, dinner table, garden, home, a setting of sorts. To prioritise a visual joy in the work might remain a foreign effort, but there’s joy in all of it. A joy so strong, one might say “I’d Like to Write A Poem About It”, but painting the artist is familiar with.
