The work, a reflection of Maitland’s history and of human condition - when stories are told over and over, the repetition can threaten to dilute or inflate the facts and one story becomes several, intertwined with new elements. Past merges with future in my work The Remembering. The car door, industrialised, modern, something discarded and painted upon like a cave painting telling the stories of Les Darcy.
