DAN NELSON
UNDER THE LIGHTHOUSE
OIL ON LINEN I 91.5 X 46CM
In my youth I lived on a road that led to a lighthouse. I spent a lot of time there, sometimes even at night. I would ride my bike, out in the darkness. The headland and lighthouse continue to be a recurring dream for me, so this painting is a self-portrait of sorts. I am interested in how the places we live form us, become our points of navigation and the places we return to, at least in our psyche. Our beloved places are steeped with sentiment and mystery. They are powerful reflections.
