OPENING CELEBRATION I SATURDAY 26th of SEPTEMBER 2PM-5PM
VIEWING DATES I 26th of SEPTEMBER TIL THE 7th of OCTOBER 2026
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
The space between what was and what’s next — a threshold of change, stillness and becoming, where endings and beginnings blur, and something quiet waits to unfold.
Liminal explores the moments that exist between one state and another — the spaces where identity, perception and possibility remain undefined. The works emerge through an interplay of human form, flowers, colour and abstraction, allowing recognisable imagery to drift between presence and disappearance.
Figures appear as though they are surfacing from within the works, intertwined with organic forms and layers of expressive mark-making. There is a sense of something unfolding, but never completely revealed. The familiar becomes slightly unfamiliar; the visible suggests something deeper beneath the surface.
For Thomas, this space between is not necessarily about resolution. It is about allowing uncertainty to exist — embracing the pause before something takes shape, and finding beauty in what has not yet been fully understood.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Tracy Thomas (b. Sydney, Australia) is a contemporary Australian artist based in Lake Macquarie, NSW. Working within a contemporary surrealist and abstract impressionist practice, Thomas explores identity, femininity, transformation and the relationship between realism and abstraction.
Drawing from her Dutch, Lithuanian and English heritage, as well as the natural environment surrounding her, Thomas creates works where female forms, flowers, colour and expressive abstraction converge. Her practice is concerned with the emotional spaces of change — the moments between what has been and what is yet to emerge.
Thomas holds a Bachelor of Arts (Design) and has exhibited nationally and internationally, including with Van Gogh Gallery Spain, Red Dot Art Fair Miami, Art World Paris and The Other Art Fair Sydney. Her work has been recognised through awards including the International Emerging Artist Award, Dubai, the Lake Macquarie Artist Creator Award and the AusMumpreneur Award.
Her work has been featured in international and Australian publications and media, including Magzoid Global U.A.E Leaders Magazine, Newcastle Herald and HGTV’s Bargain Mansions. Thomas continues to develop a distinctive body of work centred on contemporary surrealism, transformation and the spaces between reality and imagination.
