Xavier Lane is an intriguingly promising emerging artist from Newcastle. Recently a graduate from Newcastle Art School. Xavier's style holds back no punches in mark making, employing the brushes as in interface to articulate her experiences. Xavier chooses to use the marks as a vehicle to express her ideas in paint, using the rawness of colour to create a tension and impact within the artworks.
Power, hierarchy, and balance are some of the themes of the works in Xavier Lane’s second solo exhibition titled "ETHOS IN RED". The subject of the works is drawn from the artists everyday life. The things, places, people, and animals she observes and interacts with. The stories of daily life gesturally brushed out in vivid colours and tones onto canvas and painted onto Grecian inspired ceramics and sculptural pieces made from smashed up crockery and household junk.
